When I was 9 yrs old......

......yes for those of you doing the math, that was back in good old 1983. Leg warmers, sweat bands, the Smurfs, Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony, Rick Springfield, Bryan Adams, and the best boy band EVER!!!! Duran Duran:

I remember having this poster, among many others that made up mine and Winnie's "wallpaper" and drooling over Simon and Nick as well as running into our bedroom at 6am to tell Winnie that Duran Duran was on MTV. I remember my dad not letting me go to their concert with Winnie in San Diego and finally seeing them in 1987 after Roger and Andy had left. I remember seeing John Taylor at the Duran Duran convention in 1997. In the flesh, John Taylor was one fine looking man. He aged well.

They just released their new album, Astronaut, on Tuesday. Someone whom you all "know" and love, burned the entire CD for me and I was listening to it as I got ready to go to my brothers (only to realize after I got there that my chiro appt in NEXT WEEK....what a dork). I actually was pretty leery about the album as a whole. Just cause they haven't been together in a while, I was hoping to hear some old D2 stuff, but knowing I wouldn't because music styles need to change. Anyhow, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like the CD. Of course the first song is "(Reach up for the) Sunrise" and I love that song. The 5th song is my absolute favorite. It's called "Bedroom Toys":

"I been around the world
I seen a lot of things
That make your chicken curl
You're squeezing like boys and teasing like girls
Confusing like boys and girls
Plan an exit route... parachute... rubber suit
Are you ready for a little swim
There's regular... queen size... flip it on the b side... solid gold

Oh my God what's this?

I saw the bedroom toys
Now I'm stalling
I can't believe my eyes
I saw the bedroom toys
Now I'm crawling
I learn to improvise

Checking out the five star atmosphere
You want some expertise
If you got treasure, I'll pay you for the pleasure
It'll bring you to your knees
Silicone romance, what's your name fancypants?
Got your eye on the employees
Forget about the reeling, talk about the feeling
Solid Gold

Oh my God what's this?

You want it... you got it... now what you gonna do with it?
Now you washed up, beat smashing, grab no receipt takes the platinum off your shine

Lazy bed star, la di da, petty bourgeois
Oh my would you look at the time
Until you wise up, you know we're gonna line up
The pimps and snitches to dip into your riches
If you can't destroy it, you might as well enjoy it"

Such a great song. I love it !!! I'm all about dancing like a total white girl when this song comes on. So if you've been debating buying this album, trust me on track 5.....and buy it. If anything you will like this song. I mean it has a funky little beat, and fun lyrics, (make your chicken curl..??? what is that supposed to mean?)what more could you want......
